Q. What does S.C.U. stand for?
A. S.C.U. or sulfur coated urea is a form of slow release urea nitrogen. Urea is the common form of nitrogen in many of today’s fertilizers. The S.C.U. lets the nitrogen break down slowly, over a period of time so that you get a longer feeding with your fertilizer.

Sulfur coated urea is broken down by many environmental factors such as water and heat. These types of conditions will vary depending on your location and weather pattern. These variables will determine how effective your fertilizer will be over a period of time.

Q. Is all urea based fertilizer slow release or S.C.U?
A. No, usually a certain percentage of the total nitrogen by weight is slow release. For example, if the total nitrogen percentage is 25% and the product is 30% S.C.U. The slow release portion would be 7.5%.

Q. Is S.C.U. the only form of slow release fertilizer?
A. No, there are many different forms or types of slow release fertilizer. However, they all accomplish the same thing, some differently then others.
