Hydromulch

Q. What is the application rate for cellulose hydromulch?
A. 1500-2000lbs / Acre.

Q. What is the proper method for loading hydromulch?
A. Materials should be loaded lightest to heaviest. For example, water should be filled to the half way mark of the tank. Seed should be placed in first, hydromulch should be next, any additives such as liquid lime or tackafier should be next. Lastly your fertilizer, let it mix for a few minutes and you should be ready to start spraying.

Q. What is the difference between cellulose, blend, and wood hydromulch?
A. The main difference is the water holding capacity of the three. Wood holds the most water, followed by a blend product, lastly cellulose. The capacity to hold water is the most important factor when hydroseeding, as you are probably trying to get grass to germinate.

Additionally, a wood hydromulch product will benefit the most while trying to seed a steep slope or bank as it will decrease the chance of erosion.

Q. What are the typical sizes of hydromulch bales?
A. 50lbs is the typical size of most bales. However, some companies manufacture 40lb bales.

Q. Can I use any type of hydromuch I want?
A. Yes and No, the biggest factor is going to be the type of machine you have. If you have a jet agitated machine, it mixes product like a whirlpool, then you are probably going to have to use cellulose or paper based product. If you have a mechanical agitated machine, then you could probably use any of the three types of hydromulch.

We carry a paper based product known as “Jet Spray” that can be poured into a hydroseeder. It is a paper based product that can be poured into any size opening, rather then trying to break 50lb bales apart to fit into a smaller hydroseeder.

Q. Do you sell Hydromulch?
A. Yes, please refer to the hydromulch section of the website if you should require additional information.
